If one wishes to become an engineer, then there are a vast number of options to choose from. Civil and mechanical engineering are the two oldest forms of engineering that have been there for more than 100 years. Civil engineering deals with planning and execution work involved in the construction of roads, bridges and other important public utility structures such as subways and flyovers. If one wishes to be a civil engineer, they need to be strong in math and science in their high school. If one wants to be a computer scientist they need to be strong in math and computer science and should have secured good grades in their high school exams. In computer science there are again a number of branches such as embedded programming, back-end processing, and transaction processing among others. Then there are other forms of engineering subjects such as instrumentation, electrical, metallurgical and mining which also have good job prospects in the job market.

In order to get a good placement, one has to enter a top-rated engineering institution, which has a very good track of placing students in top-ranked companies in that particular engineering branch of study. Though one has to secure good grades in high school and also sometimes clear the qualifying examination to be admitted to these top-rated engineering colleges, it is worth putting in the required effort to get the admission. Not only from the placement of view, but also from the infrastructure point of view – as top-rated colleges usually have very good infrastructure and equipment required to train students.
